Flow Chart Of Tv Commerical Story
Board Thru Pre-Production
Agency "CREATIVE DIRECTOR" assigns project to agency "WRITER" and "ART DIRECTOR".
They create a "STORY BOARD".
"CREATIVE DIRECTOR" approves or changes "THE BOARD"
The agency "ACCOUNT GROUP" take "THE BOARD/S" to the "CLIENT"
The "CLIENT" hopefully approves one or more of the "BOARDS"
The agency "CREATIVE GROUP"; writer, art director and creative director select
3 "DIRECTORS" they consider right for the job.
The "AGENCY PRODUCER" "PUTS THE JOB OUT FOR BID" to the "PRODUCTION HOUSES"
than employ those selected "DIRECTORS"
The director hopefully gets to discuss the "BOARDS" with the agency creative
group. Sometimes he can only talk with the "AGENCY PRODUCER". Some times the
director is on distant location and communications is difficult at best.
The "IN HOUSE BIDDER", often "EXECUTIVE PRODUCER"/owner, "BIDS" the "JOB" once
he or she knows what the director WANTS TO DO.
The agency then selects a director considering price and his proposed execution.
The job is then "AWARDED".
Initial "CASTING" is started by the "CASTING SERVICE".
"LOCATION SCOUTING" is started by "SCOUTS"
"PRE-PRODUCTION MEETING" are held between "AGENCY CREATIVES" and director. "ART
DIRECTORS"(production side) , "STYLISTS", "EFFECTS" people, the "DP" are all
included along the line.
Once "LOCATION STILLS" are back from the "SCOUTS", "SCOUTING" takes place. Often
the "KEY GRIP", "GAFFER", join the DP, director and agency on "THE SCOUT".
The initial "CASTING TAPES" are viewed by the director and agency, often NOT
together, and "CALL BACK CHOICES" are made.
The "CASTING SERVICE" "PUTS OUT CALLS" to the "ACTORS'AGENTS" for a "CALL BACK
SESSION."
From the "CALL BACK SESSION", "TALENT SELECTS" are chosen. 2nd and 3rd choices
should be determined in case of sickness, other bookings or client disapproval.
"SELECTS" are then shown on 3/4 inch tape to the creative director and client
for approval. "SELECTS" are "BOOKED".
"APPROVED TALENT" comes in for a "WARDROBE CALL" for a "WARDROBE FITTING" and
approval by the director and agency.
