Infinity Mirror Trick

We needed a shot of hands repeated off into infinity. The kinds of shot you see with mirrors are almost parallel in front and in back of you. We scrapped a 1/4" hole off the mirror backing of one mirror. Opposite that mirror we placed a first surface mirror at a slight angle. Then a 20 mm Micro still lens extended and slightly blown up with a relay lens to cover 35 mm film and shot through the small 1/4" hole in the first mirror, that hardly showed on film. Needing a very large depth of field, lots of light needed and heat was a problem for the hand model with rings on her fingers. Faster films of today would help and the whole shot might be done in video post.
